Police in standoff with suspect in Long Beach after 2 people found dead following shooting
Officers responded around 11:15 a.m. to a shooting in 300 block of East 63rd Street
Police in Long Beah were in a standoff Monday with a suspect who barricaded himself in a building after two people died following a shooting.
Officers responded around 11:15 a.m. to a shooting in 300 block of East 63rd Street, where they found a woman who had been shot in her upper body and a man with unknown injuries, according to Officer Eric Stachura, a spokesperson for the Long Beach Police Department.
The man was declared dead at the scene, and the woman was transported to a hospital where she was pronounced dead.
A possible suspect fled into a nearby building, and officers surrounded the area and were attempting to contact the man. SWAT teams are also were on the scene.
Police don’t yet know a motive for the shooting, and the investigation is ongoing.
