Taco Bell collaborates with Omar Apollo on hot sauce
The smoky concoction will be available with tacos Thursday, Sept. 26, but a few lucky rewards members can get it with vinyl during the chain's Tuesday Drop.
Taco Bell has partnered with singer-songwriter Omar Apollo on what it calls its first-ever hot sauce collaboration.
Disha Hot Sauce has a smoky flavor and is made with roasted tomatillos, peppers, lime, and a secret spice mix. It is based on a recipe by the musician’s mother, according to a news release that was accompanied by a YouTube video of the pair.
It will be available beginning Thursday, Sept. 26, in three packets, each with a message from Apollo: “Hotter in person,” “My mom made this,” and “Who’s Omar Apollo?” that can be purchased a la carte or in a limited-edition Disha Hot Discovery Box for around $8.99. It includes a Cheesy Gordita Crunch, a Doritos Locos Taco, a Crunchy Taco, chips with nacho cheese sauce and a medium drink.
But rewards members will get an early crack at a limited-edition box during this week’s Tuesday Drop at 2 p.m. on Sept. 24. It will include a “liquid-infused” and autographed vinyl of his latest album, “God Said No” and an exclusive Disha Hot Sauce bottle.
The box will go to the first 500 members who claim the offer, the news release said.
Apollo will perform at the Hollywood Bowl on Oct. 5 and the Rady Shell at Jacobs Park in San Diego’s Embarcadero Marina Park South on Oct. 11.
