Taylor Swift Initiates Standing Ovation for Katy Perry During 2024 VMAs
After years of bad blood, Katy Perry opened up about her ongoing feud with Taylor Swift during a particularly honest edition of James Corden’s ‘Carpool Karaoke,’ and revealed that she is ready to make up if T. Swift can apologize — here’s how the pop stars went from friends to enemies
Katy Perry and Taylor Swift may have had bad blood in the past, but they have emerged from the drama closer than ever.
The pair’s famous feud began in 2014 after Perry allegedly poached some of Swift’s backup dancers. “She did something so horrible. I was like, ‘Oh, we’re just straight-up enemies’. And it wasn’t even about a guy! It had to do with business,” Swift revealed in an interview with Rolling Stone, though she didn’t mention Perry by name.
Swift continued: “She basically tried to sabotage an entire arena tour. She tried to hire a bunch of people out from under me. And I’m surprisingly non-confrontational — you would not believe how much I hate conflict. So now I have to avoid her. It’s awkward, and I don’t like it.”
Following years of shady social media exchanges and interview comments, the duo set their differences aside in 2018 after Perry gifted Swift an olive branch.
“Well, we fight like cousins,” Perry jokingly stated in a July 2020 radio interview in response to theories that she and the “Anti-Hero” singer were related.
